The rubs
How big are the jars?
Every rub comes in a big 16 oz jar packed with 12 oz (340 g) of rub. Go ahead and be generous.
Are any of them spicy?
Sweet 'n Sassy brings the most heat: sweet honey up front, jalapeño kick at the end. The Cowboy Way is peppery and savory. Old-Fashioned is sweet and smoky with no real heat.
Which rub should I get?
Pork and ribs: Old-Fashioned. Beef and brisket: The Cowboy Way. Chicken, wings and seafood: Sweet 'n Sassy. Still stuck? Try the rub picker or grab all three in the 3-Pack.
Are they gluten-free? What about allergens?
Our rubs are made with no wheat, dairy, nuts, soy or MSG. Every ingredient is printed on the jar and on each rub's page, so you know exactly what you're putting on your meat.
How long does a jar last once it's open?
For the best flavor, use it within a year of opening. Keep the lid on tight and store the jar in a cool, dry place, away from the heat of the grill.
Where are they made?
Right here in Denver, Colorado.
Cooking with it
How much rub should I use?
More than you think. Coat the surface evenly so you can barely see the meat, then rub it in. That's what the 16 oz jar is for.
How long should it sit before cooking?
At least 30 minutes. For big cuts like brisket or pork shoulder, overnight in the fridge is even better.
Is it only for the smoker?
Nope. Grill, skillet, flat-top, air fryer, crockpot, oven. It's also great on veggies, salads and popcorn.
Will the sweet rubs burn on high heat?
Molasses and honey can caramelize fast over direct flame. For hot-and-fast cooks, keep an eye on it or move to indirect heat to finish.
Everything else
Can my store or restaurant carry your rubs?
We'd love that. Fill out the wholesale inquiry and we'll be in touch.
Do you sell gift sets?
The Threesome (our 3-Pack) is the go-to gift: all three rubs, 36 oz of rub total, $34.99. Add a Deputy Hat and you're the favorite.
